Avoid bad advice about how to reduce weight

If among the millions of Americans who is trying to learn how to reduce weight, you’ve probably spent more than a little time confused about how to go about it. There’s quite a few hucksters clamoring to sell you their “revolutionary” new product, book, video, or exercise plan that will deliver astounding weight loss results in record time.

Hold on to your wallet, though, because there is no such thing as a best exercise to lose weight. That’s because there’s never been any conclusive evidence that demonstrates any correlation whatsoever between exercise and weight loss. It sounds impossible, because we’re so conditioned to think that the best way to lose excess weight is to “burn” additional calories through exercise, but this weight loss paradigm is completely misguided.

It turns out that weight loss is far more a hormonal result than anything else. The body only stores fat when there’s a particular hormone, insulin, running around in our bloodstream. In the absence of insulin, muscles, organs, and tissues utilize fatty acids (better known as “fat”) as their energy source. However, in the presence of insulin, these cells reject fat in favor of blood sugar, and the fat cells are instructed to store up those unused fatty acids in the form of triglycerides.

What causes the pancreas to secrete extra insulin, causing fat storage? Blood sugar, or glucose, which is a byproduct of sugary and starchy foods. In a neatly ironic twist, eating fat doesn’t make us fat; it’s eating carbohydrates that packs on the pounds.

So how do you avoid hyperinsulin syndrome, or excess blood insulin that causes metabolic syndrome and obesity? Avoid breads, sugars, cereals, pastas, rice, potatoes, and other starch-laden foods. And quit drinking sugar-rich soft drinks, sports beverages, and fruit juices as well. You’ll be shocked at how quickly you’re able to lose fat. Who knew it would be so simple to learn how to lose fat fast and naturally?
