If you are also among the people who regularly face digestion problems then you can follow some simple steps which can help in getting rid of this problem.
Let us have a look at some of the steps to improve digestion.
1. Eat When Hungry – Many times we indulge in food though we may not be truly hungry. When we are hungry the digestive juices are ready to take action on the food we eat and the digestion becomes easy. When we eat even when not hungry the digestive juice are not there to support digestion and due to this indigestion can happen frequently. If we look at the animal kingdom also, animal eat only when they are hungry. Humans are probably the only creatures who keep on eating when not hungry.
2. Drink Water Later – You should not drink water immediately after the meal. Give you digestive system around 30 to 45 minutes before drinking water. That way the stomach can start the digestion process and the digestive juices will not get diluted. When the digestive juices are diluted the digestion will be weak.
3. Chew Your Food Thoroughly – Chew the food thoroughly and slowly. This has been taught from the elementary school to the kids, still most people do not follow this. Chewing the food many time before gulping it activates the salivary glands which secrete enzymes which start the digestive process even before the food reaches the stomach and makes it softer and easier to digest. Teaching this to kids can help avoid constipation in kids also.
Apart from the above tips another simple tip to to eat mindfully. While eating just eat. Do not watch TV or read a magazine. Eating slowly and chewing it more makes you more mindful of the food you are taking and more acceptable to your body. Following even these simple tips can help you to have a healthy digestion and enjoy your food.
